If at first you don't suceed....

Well, it has been a few days, so I thought I should update a little bit. I apologize for not having any new pictures to post. The last few days have been busy sorting and arranging things from the move. Unpacking is just so mundane. On a fun note, my daughter Layla, has started to walk. This is such a delight. Especially for my husband who missed this time of our son's life due to deployment.

I have been working on the coffee cozies. This has been a true test of my patients. I did finally manage to get a pattern down, but now I need wider Velcro for closure. Too many sew lines begin to look sloppy. Yuck. So, maybe tomorrow a trip back to the store to buy a wider size. As soon as I feel they are acceptable, I will post a picture and then list them on etsy.

The pink doily was almost finished, or so I thought. I turned the page, to read ahead, and realized I have about fifteen more rows, instead of four. Yikes. I don't want to buy another ball of the thread, so I am begging enough to finish it up from my mother. Guess this is on hold, too.

I do have plenty to work on. The further I unpack, I am finding things I had put away until we moved. Some of the stuff is as simple as photographing and listing. Others are just needing to be finished up. Look for the new work under the "Coming Soon" list on the right.

For now, that is it. Take care.

Bathing Beauty

So, I took a break from all of the things that I have been working on and made this ATC for a mingle with the Yahoo group I belong to. The theme was Bathing Beauties.

Believe it or not, I got out the good old box of 16 Crayola Crayons and added highlights to the edges of the backing and contrast paper, and then colored in the fish stencil. I think she turned out quite nice. It has a good use of color theory, which is something I am trying to use more and learn about.

I am still crocheting on the doily. Last night, I started working on some reusable coffee cozies. This morning I have been trying to think of ways to embelish them with out making them uncomfortable to handle. The look of them is pretty much a crazy quilt. In the tradition of going green, I am using any sewable scrap I have to make a larger fabric to cut the pattern from. This should be interesting...

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

Thank you to all of the past and present service members who have so selflessly given to protect our country and our freedoms.
June
Meet June, a sweet little bear. I finished her blanket this morning, and listed her in my etsy shop. June sits at one inch tall from bottom to the top of her head, and lying flat she measures 1 3/4 inches long by 1 1/8 inches high. Her blanket measures 1 3/4 square. June is crocheted from one strand of cotton embroidery floss, the features are added with black cotton floss, and the eyes are a tiny 2 mm onyx bead. She really is cute. I added the quarter to give a size reference.

Getting Back On Track

Happy Memorial Day! First, I would like to say thank you to all of the service men and women who give or have given themselves selflessly to defend our country and freedom.

Well, I have moved. I am not completely unpacked. I am however, starting to get things back on track! Please feel free to stop by and check out what is new.

My latest ventures include some charms I have made for a charm swap through the Yahoo group "Altered stArt", a custom order of two miniature crochet bears for a friend of my Aunt's, and a Little Mermaid crib sized quilt.

The charms are made from mini binder clips, ribbon, embroidery floss and beads. The charms are less than an inch in any direction. The bears are about an inch tall, maybe smaller, I didn't think to measure them before I sent them away to their new home. They do sit on a mini quilt that is one inch square, so that should give some idea to the size. The Little Mermaid quilt is approximately 43 inches wide by 60 inches long, and the backing fabric is the same as the purple outside binding and the sashing. The Little Mermaid quilt is currently listed on eBay, and if it doesn't sell, it will get transferred to etsy, for a longer duration of selling time. COMING UP SOON will be a pink crocheted bear named June, another crocheted bear named Carmen who is made from baby alpaca thread, very soft, and a pink verigated doily.
